The news out of London says that a new survey has found that women prefer going alone for shopping. The top reason for such a choice was found to be the partner's 'bad behavior' during shopping trips. 'Bad Behavior' includes (but, as we know, is not limited to)sighing, looking pointedly at their watches or refusing to come into a shop.Probably all due to something on TV that they know they are missing or do not want to be late for. If not, get suspicious.
The survey, conducted by designer outlet chain McArthurGlen, reviewed 2,000 couples, and found that 89 per cent of women preferred shopping alone or with children than with their partner. Of the 89 %, 50 % said that they couldn't tolerate the way their partners look bored or moaned about shopping. Meanwhile, 31% of men insisted on standing outside the store.Ha ha ha. Guess the benches were all taken :).
The men say that they were frustrated by their wife or girlfriend insisting on going into every shop, and 34 per cent said it took their partners too long to make a decision. Yawn.

According to the AP Business Writer in New York, the nation’s retailers slashed prices further this week in hopes that a post-Christmas shopping rush will salvage holiday sales. As you know, holiday sales have reportedly fallen below even modest expectations. They say that the stores are waiting for shoppers armed with gift cards to snap up bargains and buy new merchandise still on store shelves.
Investors were less optimistic about this holiday season. Shares of most retailers fell, led by Macy’s Inc., which sank as much as 5 percent in trading.
In the minds of consumers, we are in a recession. This is despite what the government is telling us to believe. We are worried about the economy in general and more specifically the cost gas, mortgages, heating, and that ongoing war. ’Shoppers are thinking twice about what they are buying,’ said Jennifer Black, president of Jennifer Black & Associates, an equity research company in Lake Oswego, Ore. ’There’s a feeling of worry.’
