The plus-size segment addresses sizes 14 and up. There are now some companies is bringing those sizes down a notch in an attempt to address a changing marketplace.
Typically plus sizes are made proportionally larger than misses sizes,even though they may both display the same number as a size. This means that a plus size 16 tends to run larger than a misses size 16.
The plus size industry is a $32 billion industry. However, many well-known national retailers are not addressing the plus-size market. Some only sell XXL and sizes 14 only online
Look for some manufacturers to address the plus size issue in the near future. Especially as the American waist line increases.
