Shop around. Like anything else, do your research.

When you are trying on a bag, ask yourself how you normally will carry a bag. The hand held bags that celebrities wear can be heavy, especially when you are carrying shopping bags.

When you try the bag on, use a mirror. Is the bag size appropriate for you? Is the strap width going to be a problem?

Other things to consider-

Material- leather versus fabric.
Details- such as feet, lining, inside compartments.
Color- neutrals for year round use.
